How to Register Your Pet in Bangkok Under the 2026 Regulation

With Bangkok set to enforce the Animal Control Ordinance B.E. 2567, starting January 10, 2026, there's a growing interest among pet owners and veterinarians in understanding the microchipping and pet registration process.
In this article, AnyVet Microchip provides a clear breakdown of how to register your pet under the upcoming regulation—along with essential documentation and a streamlined process for partner clinics.
Current Pet Registration in Bangkok (Based on 2005 Law)
Until now, Bangkok’s pet registration system followed the 2005 ordinance with limited enforcement due to:
Applicability to dogs only
Registration available only at 8 BMA veterinary clinics
Low public awareness and complicated procedures
As a result, the 2005 law saw limited success in building an effective city-wide pet registry.
What’s New in the 2024 Ordinance (Effective January 2026)?
The updated ordinance significantly improves upon the previous law:
Covers dogs, cats, and other companion animals
Expands registration locations to BMA clinics, district offices, and other official sites
Registered pets may receive benefits, such as access to public dog parks
Required Documents for Pet Registration
To register your pet, you will need the following documents:
Form CodeDescriptionCLS.1Veterinary certification form signed by the vet who microchipped or examined the petCLS.2Owner registration request form signed by the responsible officerCLS.3Pet identification card issued after registrationCLS.4Change of address notification for the pet
